A DAY IN A YORK SCS STUDENT’S LIFE
Education abroad is always an adventurous profession and for me, being an international student of India, York University’s School of Continuing studies has been very beneficial. No less than informative, the course Post-Graduate Diploma in Content and Digital Marketing has been actually fun because of the committed faculty. So, it is also appropriate to focus on the fact that, in the given work, the professors themselves participate in the interventions and tasks that are accustomed to perform at practice, which contributes to the enhancement of the educational process.
My classes are in the afternoon, from 12. 00 pm to 3. Are there any free slots at 2 pm, then me and my friends can do something for 2 hours.
We often find ourselves in the break room, a vibrant arcade zone that doubles as a social hub, offering a mix of beverages and indoor games. Table tennis and 8-ball pool are our go-to activities, providing a perfect blend of competition and camaraderie. On days when we're feeling less energetic, we head to Timbers, a cozy bar nestled within York Lanes, where the atmosphere is just right for relaxation and conversation.

Sometimes, a change of scenery is in order, and we opt for a coffee break. We're spoilt for choice between the bustling Tim Hortons at Seneca College, complete with a PS5 for an impromptu gaming session, and the tranquil campus park in front of the York subway station. The latter is a personal favourite spot of mine to enjoy a coffee and the view. However, nothing compares to the underrated lake view point near the second student center, where I indulge in my occasional smokes, lost in thought and the serene beauty of the surroundings.

THE REAL STRENGTH OF YORK SCS
York has all the prowess on the infrastructure front; it is the faculty, however, that more than excels. Each of the professors has ample experience in the professional field which makes them bring into the classroom practical real-world observations that help to convert concepts learned in class to practice. This integration of theory and practice in preparing the students helps us, not only toward examinations, but also towards the professional field.
Reflecting about my learning process and the time I have spent in the School of Continuing Studies of York University it has become apparent that the memories and the experiences that I had will form my future. It’s a chapter of my life that I can only thank and look back with appreciation, for it’s here that we not only learn in terms of knowledge but also in spirit.
SCOPE OF IMPROVEMENT
At York University’s School of Continuing Studies, one can easily note that the institution has a lot to offer in their programs; however, there is always more that could be done. In like manner, Seneca College of York University has spacious and varied facilities and Clubs for the welfare and development of students. For example, at Seneca, a medical centre, a bookstore and numerous food services to allow for the convenience of the student. Also, they also own athletic and recreation facilities, triple gymnasium, dance studio, and this new seasonal dome, those structures might also have inspired York to widen its own recreational amenities.
Seneca also boasts a very active student experience with over fifty clubs from the academic realms of learning to arts performance; this presentation also encourages the leadership development of students through crews. York could excel in something similar to what Seneca mentioned earlier by expanding or advertising clubs that will deal with interests and hobbies that are not necessarily related to each other.
The aspect of student support, the Seneca Student Federation, is proven that the institution supports the students and empowers them. This is what York should try to adopt and implement in its institution so that students can be empowered as well. Incorporating some of them, York University’s School of Continuing studies could even equate or better the Seneca student facilities and clubs, improving its campus life and, subsequently, satisfaction among the students.
Thus, it can be suggested that there are several other factors; which, if improved, may contribute to improving students’ satisfaction with the choice of the School of Continuing Studies at York University; in addition to the aspects mentioned above, the balance of assignments and attendance is of great importance. Some amount of tolerance in these matters can help reduce stress and grant students the freedom necessary to attend to all their demands. It is not to imply that any deterioration of teaching standards will occur, but to recognize the busyness of student’s lives, especially the international students who have cultural adjustment and other responsibilities. This way, York would be able to create a more friendly and supportive atmosphere for learning.
In addition, equality for access to other facilities like the Campus gym is another area of students’ day to day life that the School of Continuing studies of York university could better. As for the pricing structure, there are disparities or costs today that put mass courses students of the School of Continuing Studies in a compromised position compared to those who are in for masters’. To have a healthy and more inclusive society, it would be fair to have equal Gym Membership Fees charged to all the classes of students. As for now the students of PGDM at York SCSC is chargeable $ 15/month where as master’s student is charged $ 15/year This is so because it anchors the status of wellness as a component of a university education and ensures that all students equally stand to benefit from the use of facilities owned and managed by the university.
IN CONCLUSION:
As one of the students studying in York University’s School Continuing Studies, a day is filled with academics and coupled with brief moments of relaxation. To this end, the curriculum especially in the Post-Graduate Diploma in Content and Digital Marketing programs is structured to ‘game’ the learner. Professors are heavily engaged and, quite often, go beyond the traditional academic advisor’s roles as students complete practical assignments. This approach does not only supplement knowledge but also Student-Centeredness also prepares the student for real life situations.
After class hours, there are various activities that students can engage in, thus breaking some of the time. The break room is full of vigor as students play lively table tennis and pool with each other that triggers the spirit of competition among them. For those who wish to avoid boisterousness, Timbers bar re-creates the students’ opportunity to unwind systematically and discuss pertinent issues.
The university premises themselves present various possibilities for the students to rest. From a short time to have fun and play games at Tim Hortens to relaxing time with a cup of coffee in the Campus park everyone has a place to be. The lake view point raises the flag as a serene zone to contemplate on the day’s teachings having the view of nature.
Those are not just learning use, but growth, enriched by cultural diversity that York fosters and construction of togetherness. At the end of each school day, students go home with lessons learned in class, friends made and relationships forged that create the foundation of the students’ lives. The concept of the university presented here is a process of a mission, with a different day meaning a different experience, which can be a learning, networking, or personal development.
