Getting my visa rejected at first and my dreams shattering here I am in Canada, pursuing Post-graduate Certificate in Digital and Content Marketing in York University School of continuing studies as a student of Winter intake of year 2024 and handling everything on my own along with working part-time. Being an international student and having most of my cousins, family members and friends here in Canada, it was a dream come true for me to get into York university and come here for studying in Canada.
One of a major change here was the weather, having the tropical weather back in India and moving here to the cold and snowy weather was something completely new but it was only one of the first great things that started my days at York University School of Continuing Studies.
Another major change for me was living here alone being away from my family, since last 22 years I have always been staying with my family and coming here for my post-grad I had to be away from my family and it really was very hard and still is, but we got to trust the process and let things be in the way it should be.

The campus itself has everything to offer, some of things which needs to be highlighted are:
Infrastructure: The school of continuing studies is one of the finest designed infrastructures in whole Toronto, having all the necessary amenities such as parking for students and air-conditioned classes in summers and centrally heated in winters. Apart from having an A class infrastructure but if you compare it with the main York University campus then your excitement will be shattered.

Career opportunities: Studying from York will lead you to have great opportunities for your future, because it’s well-known image of high-class teaching and making every student practically knowledgeable in their respective field. And, we have various guest speakers that come in for a session, in every course module each professor arranges a guest speaker so that we all can learn from their experiences which will help us grow in this digital marketing field and the professors here are one of the best as well, I have been taught by professors such as Tim, Dorris, Leigh, Heath, Melyssa and trust me they all are best in their respective field with a lot of practical knowledge about the course
Easily accessible: York University’s location is in a place where everything is easily accessible, whether it’s going to downtown or going to nearby cities, everything is very handy and easily and readily available.
Subway station: York University has its own subway station from where you can travel to anywhere in the city and students can travel to and from their home or work, which makes life of every student and professor very easy.

Different departments for every field of study: Talking about the different departments, York has different buildings of each field of study whether its IT field or marketing field or for undergrads, every student of different field has its own different building where he/she will be studying.
Surrounding places: York has a lot of things in its surrounding, whether it’s food spots or any clubs or restaurants or any fun activity types of arcades, it has got all in here at a walking distance which helps students enjoy with their friends after the classes or in break time or when they want to spend some time with their friends. York Lanes which is in the centre of the campus is one of the most visited place by students as it has everything there, like break room where students can go and play arcade games and spend some time or various different food joints all at one place.
Flexible Learning that fits my life.
Another reason which made me choose York University, is the flexibility it offers to manage a perfect balance between work life and college life, and it was one of the most important things for me. I can easily manage my schedule to accommodate my part-time job, which is also needed so solve my financial issues and gain Canadian work experience. The schedules for the courses are well developed to suit the working students and thus, the balancing of work and study has become worry free. Like if I ever have my work scheduled at the time of classes I can request the professor if I could attend any other class that day as all courses mostly have 4 batches in a day and you can request and attend any other class occasionally. And everything taught in the class is majorly available to you on the portal after the class when professor shares it, and it makes you look whatever has been taught in the class in-case if you missed any class due to any unforeseen reason or to revise whatever was taught. And during digital and content marketing the marks are based totally on your assignments and how well you have been able to grasp in your classes that has been taught by the professor.
Advice to future international students
If you want and are considering studying at School of Continuing Studies, here are some tips that might help you for your future here:
Live your life to fullest: Living here in a new country all alone can be a very challenging but if you embrace the change, it will help you to adapt it well and quick. Also try to go as many places you can and be open to creating new friends as it will help you a lot in future and to make you feel less lonely also try attending the orientation session and participate in some of the campus activities. And try to attend your classes as it will help you gain practical as well as theoretical knowledge.

Stay Organized: If you’re an international student you will probably work for a part time job which will call for proper schedule management of working and studying time. Use a calendar or a planner to organize the timelines and do not forget to attend the meetings or submitting the assignments before the deadline.
Be Safe & Look Out for Support: There are many homeless people around the campus, and they sometimes follow you to steal money or to harm you but if you feel someone is following you or anything you can call for support as there are many security cars roaming around or you can call for support through their helpline number.
Be friendly: It is important that you don't give away any chance to introduce yourself to as many people as possible and make as many friends as possible. Networking makes experience more better and helps in getting an opportunity in various organization and other job fields as well.
Conclusion
The day that I joined York University School of Continuing Studies has changed my life totally and that too in a good way. Aspects such as climate change, change of culture, work-study balance has helped me to grow a lot. This all has happened to help me prepare for a bright future since the skills and information that I am being taught here are excellent and the people I am meeting are very helpful and have a handful of experience which in turn has helped and is still helping me a lot. For any international student living in Canada or any other country who would wish to join a school that will allow him/her work at his/her own pace, York University School of Continuing Studies will be very helpful.
Thus, being said, owing to my own experience, I wish to contribute and perhaps benefit other international students that are coming in or will be in future. York University School of Continuing Studies is a great place to get your education because our school will help you or achieve your goals. And because of its global ranking and the practical knowledge it provides.
