My Journey at York University School of Continuing Studies as an International Student

When I first went to the York University SCS (School of Continuing Studies), For my Digital Marketing Program. I was both excited and nervous. The campus is so huge, and I was eager to explore and start this new chapter of my life as I walked through an orientation held in the second student center. Thousands of students started their journey at York University. Some of them were from different colleges, like those who had already done a previous course from a different college, and some of them had just started their new journey in this country as international students. I felt the excitement of fellow students who were just as excited to start their new journey of education in Canada as I was.

The professors at York University SCS (School of Continuous Studies) are another great part of my journey of higher education in Canada. They are not only experts in their fields but also, they are very supportive and easy to talk to especially professor Rovena Aga, Robert Mitchell, Melyssa Lipsey, Tim Cambell-smith, Andrew Temes, and Professor Kanak. I remember instances where instructors stayed late after class just to help us understand our doubts. Last month, I emailed Professor Tim with a question about an assignment, and I received a reply within minutes. The insights and guidance he provided were very useful. The professors are so passionate about teaching us and explaining every concept in depth with real-time case studies. I believe that getting personalized attention enhances the experience to another level, and I am sure many of you would agree with me on this, as in this competitive environment everyone seeks personalized insights from their instructors or mentors.

I enrolled in the Post Graduate Diploma in Digital and Content Marketing Program at York University, it is one of the interesting and practical oriented program. In Digital Marketing Program at York University. Every assignment helped me to apply in real-life situations, which I had learned during my journey. This approach helped me develop valuable skills that will be used in the near future when I get a field job. For example, in one of my initial marketing classes, I learned how to use LinkedIn ad manager and how to market products & services with LinkedIn and HubSpot. This course allowed me to use my knowledge that I gained in lectures and applied it in a practical way, while I was doing an internship in LinkedIn and HubSpot Ambassador Program, where I had to run a campaign for different clients from different countries. Also, from this opportunity I learned a lot from the mentors and clients. Overall, it was a great experience.

Moreover, group assignments are memorable for everyone, because working with fellow students helps me learn the importance of teamwork, communication, and collaboration. I learned how to deal with different opinions and work together to achieve common goals. As per my personal experience, these projects often lead to late-night phone calls to complete an assignment, but apart from this it also helped me to create strong friendship bonds with other students. For instance, I created a good friendship bond with many classmates like Tanmay Bakshi, Simran Kadam, Devanshi, Suvin, Prashant, and Prabhgun. I remember one group assignment where we had to present a presentation. The pressure was intense, but working in a team helped a lot. The achievement we all group members felt after successfully presenting our presentation was rewarding. The professor was so impressed with the performance, and he appreciated us, and we all got full grades in that assignment.

The faculty of York University School of Continuing Studies made it easy for students who are facing problems. There are many resources available to help students succeed, from applying for the program at York University to how things work for students. The advisors are always there to help you with course selection and career counseling. However, whenever I needed assistance, they guided me through my academic journey and make sure I am on the right track to reach my future goals.

I appreciate the communities at York University. There are many student groups and events going on to bring students together and give them a chance to socialize with each other. This kind of event gives a chance to students to meet each other and build lasting friendships or relationships with other students. Similarly, I also attended a couple of events through which I made a few friends, and I considered this part of my journey was most rewarding because by attending this event I made a couple of good bonds with like-minded people.

As the program ends in September 2024, I believe my time at York University School of Continuing Studies has been wonderful. I have grown personally and professionally, gaining useful skills and knowledge that will help me in my field. Most importantly, I have made great connections with my professors, faculty members, and fellow students, and I have created many memories that I will never forget. The insights I received here have given me the push I needed to succeed in my career and have created new opportunities for professional growth.
