Navigating Academic Life at York

One of the reasons I chose York's School of Continuing Studies was its flexibility and quality. Curriculum is rigorous and relevant, preparing students for their future careers. The professors are well-informed and approachable, and small class sizes mean you get a lot of attention. The school also hosts guest speakers from different industries, which provides valuable insight and networking opportunities. I've added a lot to my resume getting HubSpot certifications.

Supportive Teachers and Mentors

I've had a lot of support from York teachers and mentors. You can get help with academics and careers and they're always available. Mentoring connects students with industry professionals who can help them plan their careers and give valuable industry insight. As an international student, this network has been crucial to my success.

Overcoming Challenges

Life in a new country comes with challenges, like homesickness and understanding Canadian accents. Through counseling services, peer mentoring, and workshops, York provides plenty of support. Help from the International Student Services office was especially helpful.

Building Friendships and Community

My fear of isolation quickly vanished after I joined student clubs and participated in campus events. These activities helped me meet people from various backgrounds, leading to lasting friendships and a strong support network. The multicultural environment at York fosters a sense of belonging and provides opportunities to learn from diverse perspectives.

Here are a few tips for future international students
