“Knowledge is the wing wherewith we fly to heaven”
December 25 2022, 7:30 PM, Toronto Pearson Airport
Temperature: 10 degrees, weather: Too Cold😊
The first view when I saw Toronto, Canada it was mesmerizing and that they one of my friend pick me up and we went to his house and I was feeling excited to start my new journey with positive hopes but there was a feeling that from here we will have to things by our own.
I called my parents that night and told them I am safe and had a very good authentic Biryani that day. I sneaked through my window and I could see a very beautiful white layer of snow.
The photo that you see at the top gives a very beautiful view of a sunset in Mississauga, Canada and it has given me a message that this the end of the day, but its reminds us that every ending is a prelude to a new beginning.
Great message from a great leader :
January 14 2024 – Next day, I had my first class day and I was excited to kickoff my journey with the new learnings and beginnings. I remember my first day where Jeff May told us that if you stay humble then you will progress a lot in the life, those words made my day and still its so fresh in my head. The colleagues were so excited and they were very helpful to me when it has came to group projects or any work. Also, before starting our course we had a brief speech from our program manager.
The manager greeted us, delivered a quick speech, and went over the policies, procedures, and guidelines for education at the university. A month had gone by before I realized how quickly time had passed. In Canada, I was a student at York University. In August 2023, Sheybaaz Lalji formally concluded his studies in Human resource administration.
The struggle that came across to me right from the start where I had troubles getting my visa and getting admission and finally completing my graduation felt like the dream that we as a family thought of has been succeeded. I scored overall 80% in my course and that helped me a lot to get my first job. We also had various guests’ lectures which gave us an idea how we can succeed in real world. From complex project management methods to effective interpersonal tactics, the information I've acquired has greatly improved my capacity for work. All the professors at York University are helpful and they guide for each and every step in your education journey.
How did I land for my first on-campus job? I was just coming to the nearest subway station from my class and there I saw one post on a notice board where they were hiring for cashier and the name for the café was “Break Café”. I immediately sent the email that was mentioned and that’s how I got an interview call, had a very pleasant interview and that’s how I landed my first on campus job which I wish to continue as part time. I learned a lot at this cafe how to interact with the customers, how to solve if they have any allergies or something that do not prefer to eat. Giving them recommendations about the food and beverages
I have had nothing but incredible experiences at York University's School of Continuing Studies. I gained knowledge from my teachers, fellow students, and the administration of the school every day. Above all, I appreciate the administration of the school for their guidance, deference, kind attitude, and exceptional curriculum.
Students who are upcoming in this course or any other course accept this journey in a very open mind and always have that perseverance to do well in whatever task you get. Take utmost advantage of the resources and support from your instructors and your fellow mates. Stepping out of your comfort zone will provide more avenues to your learnings. There will be lots of challenges you will go through as you are alone and second you will have to do all of your your things alone, so be prepared for that as well. The rewards that you will get in upcoming years will be amazing. All the best!
I will be graduating from York University for the second time and I am super happy, confident and excited to start my new career in the working world, it would have not been possible without the support from each and everyone who helped along the way. All of the people stood beside me and guided be for my success.
Thanks to my friends, the administrative team at my school, the senior leadership, and a little bit of work on my part, my path has been positive.
