York University School of Continuing Studies has been a life-changing experience for me. I aspire to be an entrepreneur and launch my own fashion brand, so, In 2023, I studied Business Administration, and I am currently pursuing Digital and Content Marketing to gain a comprehensive understanding of the Canadian market During my journey, I have come across enriching educational experiences, exceptional facilities, and a community that is supportive. This blog post will present my own insights and recommendations to assist future students in having the best time possible while attending York University School of Continuing Studies which is among the top universities in Canada.
First Impressions
On the very first day I entered into York University Keele campus, it was orientation day, my heart was pumping, full of excitement and nervousness at the same time. I found the orientation day was very well organized, we started with a presentation about the origins of our university, student resources, supports and services available for students then we had a tour of our campus, the lecture hall, library, student centre and other facilities. This first introduction into my educational life in this university, one of the best universities in Canada for international students, set a great mood for me to start all my future academic work at this university. The adjustment of me being here was an easy and painless task, it almost immediately set the feelings of home.I also noticed how convenient public transportation was. It is expensive to use Uber, so I take the subway, which is a more economical and efficient option for an international student. However, I believe that students should have free access to the subway to attend university. It would greatly alleviate the financial burden and make commuting even more accessible for all students.

Classroom Experience and Facilities
The quality of its facilities is one of the things that make York University School of Continuing Studies stand out from other institutions. The lecture rooms are always neat, tidy and large enough to accommodate all students. By doing so, it creates a learning environment which supports zero interruption thereby enabling concentration on studies. I was excited to meet new people and learn about Canadian culture, but I felt a bit disappointed when I found out that all my classmates were Indian. Having studied with Indian students from play school to graduation, I was looking forward to a change and the opportunity to study with Canadian students. Nevertheless, I built self-confidence and learned teamwork through group assignments.
Personally, I found the ground floor of the Continuing Studies building to be very impressive. There are private spaces where I go with my group members to practice for presentation. These private rooms have TVs which make it convenient for group assignments or presentations.

Student Center and Recreational Activities
My favourite location on campus is the Student Center at York University. It’s an amazing place to have fun, make friends, and engage in recreational activities. After classes, I often head to the break room in the Student Center to relax and have some good time with my friends.
Interaction with Professors and Staff
York University School of Continuing Studies has a very wonderful education quality which is largely attributed to the expertise and commitment of its professors. They are highly skilled in their fields and bring substantial knowledge into the classroom. Their teaching methods captivate learners’ minds thus driving them deep into the middle of subject matter, hence making complex topics simpler to understand. These professors are also approachable as well as being professional and they will always try to give solution to queries from students.
One of the most valuable lessons I learned was how to manage my time effectively. Juggling big assignments, due dates, and other responsibilities can be challenging. However, the professors are quite understanding of the pressures students face. When it gets tough with multiple assignments and deadlines, the professors are often willing to accommodate requests for extensions and adjust due dates.
Moreover, there are well trained support staff at York University who assist students. They take our questions with seriousness and work tirelessly until solutions have been found for each problem identified. Nevertheless, although this kind of help might call for patience when waiting for it, we still come out being satisfied.
Hardships Faced by International Students
My overall experience has been a positive one, but there are some difficulties international students face. Separation of foreign and Canadian students is one problem in particular that stands out. The Continuing Studies building is located at the end of the campus, so generally international students do not have contact with their peers from Canada. By so doing, this setup inhibits the exchanges between different cultures.
Studying alongside Canadian students would help international learners gain a deeper understanding of the local culture as well as enhance their overall educational experience. This would also promote inclusivity where learners come from diverse backgrounds and learn from each other while making authentic friends.

Associate with Lecturers: Don’t hesitate to make contact with your tutors. They are available for assistance and advice. First, a positive relationship with these teachers can greatly contribute to better learning.
Make Connections: Participate in the games at the Student Centre. It is a nice way of relaxing, enjoying oneself and meeting new people also. Striking a balance between leisure activities and academics is essential for your well-being.
Look for Assistance When Required: Do not be afraid to seek help from support staff. The academic guidance, career services or personal assistance provided by York University staff is aimed at making you successful.
Encourage Integration: Promote being together of international students and Canadians. This enriches your educational experience when you interact with different individuals originating from various places.

My time at York University School of Continuing Studies has been tremendously fulfilling. I have had good education standards; fantastic facilities and an amazing community that will forever remain etched in my memory.
